I found a website that I could order a custom cut foam piece to use as a mattress and it came this week. It is a nice dense foam that is sold to use in cushions and mattresses.
I am so excited with my crib restoration! It has been fun! I just put the decals on last night. They had to dry out at least 30 mins and then I can seal them with clear Krylon. I have to buy that today. I also dyed some vintage chenille cloth I had on hand and made my first ever rag quilt with it. The quilt was a lot more of a challenge than I thought it would be when it comes to trying to keep the squares the same size. Some of them are off. Also, when I washed it some of the ragging edges came unsewn where they unraveled more than I was expecting so I had to try to sew that section back up and now it is a bit puckered. Thankfully the pucker only shows on the flannel back side as the ragging hides it on the front. I enjoyed making the quilt though and plan to practice making more with other types of cloth until I get better at it. I invested in some $25 ragging scissors so I gotta learn it now! LOL! The rag quilt is not perfect but I am still proud of it.
Here is my crib, the blanket I made and 3 of my silicone babies enjoying it.
