Simply Baby boy in progress

It won't be long until Christmas and so I have started working on some babies from my Simply Baby line of dolls that are popular as gifts at Christmas time. Simply Baby reborns are a little less detailed than fully painted reborns in order to keep the cost down for the Simply Baby line. These babies are suitable as play babies for children and as Comfort Therapy babies for the elderly. These babies are realistically mottled and blushed, creases are shaded, lips and nails colored, subtle veins added, and are given a nice body and lightly weighted. I do not weight the Simply Baby as heavily as a full reborn since they are meant for children and the elderly. Babies are usually 3 lbs or less. These babies are either left bald with a lovely mottled and veined head or are given lightly painted hair.

Sleeping babies will have rooted lashes that are glued on the inside of the head but open eyed babies will only have glossed eyes as the lashes on open eyed babies do not hold up well to a lot of play and handling. Because these babies are intended for children and the elderly, they DO NOT come fitted with a magnetic pacifier. Magnets are not child safe nor pet safe and can interfere with some pacemakers and similar equipment. It is against my recommendation to install a magnetic pacifier system on a reborn for children under 10 or the elderly. However, if the buyer prefers to have a magnetic pacifier and/or open eyed lashes added you may request so for an additional charge. Open eyed babies will have basic newborn blue or gray colored eyes.

This baby will have lightly painted wispy hair and I am going to make it a boy. He is not quite finished as I have to gloss his mouth, seal his nails and give him a weighted cloth body etc. He is a chubby boy and will be about 20" long when finished so he is a bit large for the younger child or an elderly person who is more feeble.

Here is baby so far. Flash photos taken inside in the evening. This baby will be for sale when finished.
